Climate Action Meeting

25, January, 2023 @ 19:00 - 20:30

How can Woodham Walter contribute?

At its December 2022 meeting, Woodham Walter Parish Council approved two new policies – a Climate Action Statement and a Biodiversity Policy. (see links).

The evidence of global warming is all around us. We may only be a small community but we need to contribute to the UK’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and to protect and increase biodiversity. Our work would have little noticeable impact on a national scale but it would make Woodham Walter itself a safer, more sustainable and greener environment.

For this to be effective, we need residents to help, to be involved and as appropriate to take the lead. The Parish Council cannot do this effectively without your help. We know that there is a lot of knowledge within the village that at the moment does not have an outlet or a forum for sharing. It would be invaluable for all if as many as possible could work together on this.

We would like to invite anyone who is interested in this subject to a meeting that we have scheduled at the Women’s Club, Top Road for 7pm on Wednesday, 25th January.

The first step will be to form a working party, formed out of a cross-section of the village (the young and the not so young, but embracing an enthusiasm for this issue across a range of different areas), whose initial objective will be to advise the Parish Council on implementing the Climate Action Statement. But if being a member of the working party is not for you, but you are passionate about the climate change challenge in front of us, please do come along. The Parish Council and the working party will need all the support and expertise available from within our community.

We hope to see you on 25th January.
