Lottery Fund Success for Playground Appeal – Update 26th February 2020

The Bell Meadow Playground committee are delighted to announce that we are a step closer to the goal of raising £25,000 to fund the new playground with the securing of a major grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The £10,000 that has been awarded, when added to the £4,500 already donated by local residents, businesses and fundraising activities, means that the Woodham Walter Bell Meadow Playground Committee are well over half way to fully funding the project.  Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

Committee Chair, Councillor Joanna Symons, said  “this grant from the National Lottery has given us a major boost, not just financially, but in keeping momentum going as we head to our £25,000 goal, which seems very attainable after this news. We will now push ahead with other grant applications and plans for a number of events through 2020 which will not only raise the remaining funds we need but also give the village an opportunity to celebrate the achievement so far”

The funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community fund in the UK, will improve the facilities in Woodham Walter and bring people together.   Currently there is no play facility open to the public in the village and this funding will help build a tastefully planned play area designed to enhance the beautiful space.  Bell Meadow is owned and managed by Woodham Walter Parish Council and this is a project instigated by them and the local community.

The next committee meeting is on Monday 2nd March at 7.30pm in Women’s Club, Top Road.  We would be delighted to welcome anyone who would like to help us with our fundraising goal.  We are planning a few events in 2020 and we will need some help!
